Product Description

Treat your guests to the finer points of womanly success with advice from "How to Be a Good Wife," 1950's style. Once the hilarity subsides, surprise the crowd with a quiz to find out who was laughing and who was actually listening.

What's Included

  • Textbook Excerpt
  • Game Quizzes (51/2 x 8" sheet)
  • Heavyweight Paper
  • Answer Key
  • Game Instructions

How to Play

Time:   10 minutes
Players:   unlimited
Winners:   1

  • Have a quiz sheet ready for each guest.
  • Read the excerpt without letting on that a quiz is coming.
  • Distribute the quiz sheets.

Read the 1950's textbook excerpt and then hand out a short quiz. Guests try to remember what they heard to get the answers correct. When all guests have completed the quiz, read the answers as guests score their own game sheet. Each correct answer is worth one point. The guest with the most correct answers wins. If there is a tie, draw names to find a winner.

Variations

Quiz First
For a fun variation… have guests take the quiz first - and then read the Textbook Excerpt! Next, read the quiz answers, and if any guest has over 3 correct answers (by some miracle) they should win a prize! (It's totally up to the hostess on this variation of the game if you want to have prizes, as it is hard to estimate if there will be a winner. You can, however, have a little paper crown ready to crown the '1950's Lady.) Warning - the independent ladies in the group may come a little unhinged at the 'advice' given in the story.

  1. loved it so funny that women acutally did these things

    Posted by Terry on 10 01 10

As the younger, unmarried, sisters of the bride this was our sisterly advice to her. It was quite funny.

  2. It was a groaner

    Posted by Unknown on 08 26 10

This was great fun. The reactions were groans of disbelief. I loved this game.

  3. What a Hoot

    Posted by Cindy on 08 26 10

It was funny that some of the more mature guests remembered acutally having text like what is in this game in their Home Ec classes. The younger guests thought it was hilarious and unbelievable.

  4. Loved the Game!

    Posted by Julie on 08 26 10

Everyone loved this game! I read reviews before I bought it and took the advice from one review on having them fill out answers first. I also did props as I read the story and handed them to the bride and everyone roared with laughter. I used very inexpensive items. People referred to the game during the shower with some of the gifts the bride received.

  5. Very Fun!

    Posted by Juli on 08 26 10

This game was a lot of fun. Had fun trying to imagine actually taking a course like this.

  6. Eye opener for younger kids

    Posted by Unknown on 08 26 10

We had all ages at party. It brought up great discussions of what it takes to make a marriage work, what was good about 'those times' (50's) and what was not good.

  7. Loved it!

    Posted by Olivia on 08 26 10

Everyone enjoyed hearing the 1950s excerpt! It definitely got some laughs!

  8. Easy

    Posted by Di on 08 26 10

Guests found it easier then I thought it would be. A lot of laughter and comments. I would suggest more questions.

  9. Loved this Game

    Posted by Nicole on 08 26 10

It was so much fun, the ladies really got a kick out of it.

  10. Lots of laughs

    Posted by Laurie on 08 26 10

This was a fun game for everyone. Lots of laughs. The women were good listeners too. We had 5 people who got 7 answers right, so if you are giving prizes for games, make sure you have enough to go around.
