Loading... Please wait...Treat your guests to the finer points of womanly success with advice from "How to Be a Good Wife," 1950's style. Once the hilarity subsides, surprise the crowd with a quiz to find out who was laughing and who was actually listening.
What's Included
How to Play
Time: 10 minutes
Players: unlimited
Winners: 1
Read the 1950's textbook excerpt and then hand out a short quiz. Guests try to remember what they heard to get the answers correct. When all guests have completed the quiz, read the answers as guests score their own game sheet. Each correct answer is worth one point. The guest with the most correct answers wins. If there is a tie, draw names to find a winner.
Variations
Quiz First
For a fun variation… have guests take the quiz first - and then read the Textbook Excerpt! Next, read the quiz answers, and if any guest has over 3 correct answers (by some miracle) they should win a prize! (It's totally up to the hostess on this variation of the game if you want to have prizes, as it is hard to estimate if there will be a winner. You can, however, have a little paper crown ready to crown the '1950's Lady.) Warning - the independent ladies in the group may come a little unhinged at the 'advice' given in the story.

As the younger, unmarried, sisters of the bride this was our sisterly advice to her. It was quite funny.

This was great fun. The reactions were groans of disbelief. I loved this game.

It was funny that some of the more mature guests remembered acutally having text like what is in this game in their Home Ec classes. The younger guests thought it was hilarious and unbelievable.

Everyone loved this game! I read reviews before I bought it and took the advice from one review on having them fill out answers first. I also did props as I read the story and handed them to the bride and everyone roared with laughter. I used very inexpensive items. People referred to the game during the shower with some of the gifts the bride received.

This game was a lot of fun. Had fun trying to imagine actually taking a course like this.

We had all ages at party. It brought up great discussions of what it takes to make a marriage work, what was good about 'those times' (50's) and what was not good.

Guests found it easier then I thought it would be. A lot of laughter and comments. I would suggest more questions.

This was a fun game for everyone. Lots of laughs. The women were good listeners too. We had 5 people who got 7 answers right, so if you are giving prizes for games, make sure you have enough to go around.
